Among all the storage materials, special attention has been paid recently to boron hydrides due to their unique properties that satisfy the requirements of the Department of Energy (DOE), USA. These solid materials encounter a phase change by the appropriate process (heating, reaction, etc.) to produce hydrogen gas. H 2 storage materials should have a small volume, small mass, and high hydrogen content. Solid materials with high H 2 storage and generation capacity are promising materials to overcome storage and transportation limitations.

Furthermore, liquid or gaseous H 2 storage poses significant safety issues for on-board transport applications. To store H 2 as a liquid, a refrigeration unit is needed to preserve the cryogenic state, which adds weight and energy costs and causes around 40% of energy loss.

The weight of the storage containers and the possibility of developing leaks are the main factors that limit storing H 2 in high-pressure tanks. Nevertheless, it is complicated to store H 2 using these tanks because it has a very low boiling point (−252.87 ☌) and very low gas density (0.08988 g/L) at 1 atm. H 2 can be stored in high-pressure and cryogenic liquid storage tanks. Recent research has identified H 2 storage as a bottleneck of the widespread use of H 2 energy. However, the transportation and storage of H 2 hinder its commercial applications due to its low density and high explosiveness. H 2 has many excellent characteristics such as a high energy density, availability, and cleanness it is green and pollution-free since water is the main byproduct of the combustion reaction. Kinetics studies show that the AB hydrolysis reaction is independent of AB concentration and the first-order reaction of NF catalysts. Electrospun catalysts show excellent activity for AB hydrolysis with good recyclability. AB photocatalytic hydrolysis mechanisms under light were also explained. Photocatalytic AB hydrolysis was discussed in detail due to its importance and promising results. Here, a comprehensive review of the ceramic-supported electrospun NF catalysts for AB hydrolysis is presented, with a special focus on catalytic and photolytic performance and preparation steps. Electrospun nanofibrous catalysts are a new class of efficient catalysts that involves the usage of polymers. However, the process must be conducted in the presence of efficient catalysts to obtain a reasonable amount of generated H 2. Among solid materials, ammonia borane (abbreviated hereafter as AB) is considered one of the best hydrogen storage materials due to its extraordinary H 2 content and small density. Many researchers consider solid materials with an excellent capacity for H 2 storage and generation as the solution for most H 2-related issues. However, the widespread usage of H 2 is constrained by its storage and safety issues. Hydrogen (H 2) is a promising renewable energy source that can replace fossil fuels since it can solve several environmental and economic issues.
